At Goju Kai Karate St Andrews, we believe that karate is not just a sport, but a way of life. Our goal is to provide our students with the tools and knowledge to be successful both on and off the mat. We teach traditional Japanese karate, with a direct lineage to our chief instructor in Japan. We offer a variety of classes for all ages and skill levels, including group classes, beginners classes, kids classes, ladies combat, and self defense classes. Shihan Russell Sim
Shihan Russell Sim is the owner and chief instructor at Goju Kai Karate St Andrews. With over 40 years of karate experience, Shihan Russell is dedicated to helping his students develop their skills and achieve their goals. He is a Japanese graded 6th Dan, retired Protea team member, and international referee. He has also produced multiple district, provincial, national and international champions.
Sensei Jesse Sim is the son of Shihan Russell Sim, and one of the senior instructors at Goju-kai St Andrews. He has nearly 20 years of experience in karate, beginning training at the age of 5, with over 10 years of teaching experience. He is also a Japanese graded 3rd Dan black belt, current member of the national team, an 11 time national champion, 5 time Southern African Champion, Commonwealth Champion, and African bronze medallist.

He has also produced multiple district, provincial, national and international champions.
